February 7, 2025
McKinney, TX – The Smashing Hunger Pickleball Tournament, presented by Benchmark Bank & Title, is gearing up for an exciting event on March 1, 2025, with a mission to support Community Garden Kitchen in its fight against food insecurity in Collin County.
As a kickoff to the tournament’s fundraising efforts, Laurie Pool, Collin County President of Benchmark Bank, and Kelly Buettner of Benchmark Bank presented an initial $5,000 pledge to Angela Poen, founder of Community Garden Kitchen. This donation marks just the beginning of what is expected to be a major fundraising effort through sponsorships, player registrations, and community support.
“We are incredibly grateful to work with a committee of such passionate women who pour their heart and soul into creating an event that brings the community together while making a tangible impact on hunger relief,” said Angela Poen, founder of Community Garden Kitchen. “This $5,000 pledge is just the start, and we can’t wait to see how much more we can raise to help provide meals for those in need.”
Benchmark Bank’s commitment to giving back played a key role in launching this initiative. Laurie Pool, Collin County President of Benchmark Bank, emphasized how the tournament aligns with the bank’s mission.
“At Benchmark Bank, we believe in investing in our communities and supporting causes that truly make a difference,” said Laurie Pool. “The Smashing Hunger Pickleball Tournament is a perfect example of how we can come together to make an impact, and we’re honored to be the Presenting Sponsor of this important event.”
